What it really is like

Let's skip the fluff and do a walkabout so you get a sense of being here, for real.

Frequently asked questions

What's it really like living here?

The feel of a South American Town mixed with the Caribbean Afro flavors.

Depending on which of the two parts you live in, life can be mostly quiet or as loud and rambunctious as you desire.

Vibrant, always something to do, somewhere to go.

If you are a social person, this is the place for you! There is always something fun going on. There maintains a strong sense of community, where neighbors still no each other, and being outside in of itself is a social event.

Daily Living - How does it feel?

The French Quarter is a tightly knit combo of historic homes, mixed with one of the top destinations in the world for tourists and conventions. Your life will never be the same, for there are frustrations like parking, or parking and getting towed because you drank too much the night before and "forgot" what day street cleaning day was. You shall forever have good food to eat and many drinking libations to share amongst new friends everyday and every night. Where most of America stays at the TV, one lives on a moving movie set everyday where you are the main star.

And the Mardi Gras?

Oh...so you really thought Mardi Gras was one day a year? The reality is everyday in everyway somewhere in the Quarter, (or "Quarters" if you are from one of the other parts of town) someone is celebrating something..life, death, marriage, divorce, cheating, elections, real news, fake news, MardiGras indians, real Native indians. This ongoing celebration of music, culture and creed makes you memories for life.

What you must have to live here

A bike, an adequate supply of "Togo" cups, a fold up chair or 3, (2 chairs or more together makes for a party or gathering. A costume closet, (must have, with a selection of wigs, pirate or more paraphernalia).

Pros, Cons and Funs

Pros: One of the most walkable communities in America, period.

Cons: Parking can be a challenge sometimes and tourists, like cockroaches are a neccessary evil but they usually scurry away.

Funs: Day and night there is something to do or see. This is a place to rediscover yourself at any age. Many a book was written here and many a life chapter also.

Come for the Food & Music, Stay to renew your Soul.

This place changes every day in some way, but for the most part it stays the same. That's just the dichotomy of the sometimes sensory overload that makes it such a special place.
